On Thursday, Week 1, Term 3 we (the Mural group) had our first meeting. We got to know each other and Tracy. We decided on a topic - NZ native bush with birds and wetas and other things that you would find in the bush. For the next 3 weeks we drew our animals. Soon we had a large collection of NZ bush creatures. By then the boards we were painting were ready. We spent another week undercoating it in a nice yellow ("To give it a warm glow," said Tracy). Then we copied our drawings onto clear paper so we could use the projector to enlarge them onto the boards. We decided where we wanted them and drew them on. We gave each animal an undercoat of a colour they would be painted. Then each person painted their animal. This took us about 5 weeks plus some time out of class. Tracy taught us how to put on details and shade to make things look 3D. Then at the end of term Tracy took them home to touch it up and seal it. Then the Term 3 Mural was finally put up. The unveiling was on Friday before the whole school trip to the Aquatic Centre. The artists signed a plaque and then had photos taken. The Mural looked great!!! Well done Tracy and her crew of artists.

There is also a new Mural nearly finished to go up early next year. We can’t wait to see that one.
