'Nightingale'
The production has been happening on Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday night and Thursday night. We have been practising for the past term.
The Nightingale production is about the Emperor of China, who lives in a porcelain palace surrounded by beautiful gardens. One day he learns there is a nightingale who lives in the forest nearby. He sends his team out to find her and bring her to him. She goes to him and agrees to stay at the palace. All goes well until the watchmaker makes a mechanical nightingale, who looks beautiful but her music-making is unrealiable. She eventually breaks down. Without her music the Emperor gets vey sick. The real nightingale has left. Who can save him?

It was a sparkling, glimmering night. Thie lights shone bright. The costumes were beautiful. I was as hot as a fire. It was sticky with my make-up on.

I felt really excited as I walked into the hall. It was pounding with noise and I could barely hear myself think. I found my costume and queued to get into the make-up room. It was steaming hot as I walked into the hall. I had butterflies all around. The audience stared at us while the spotlight was shining so bright I couldn't see. At the end it was so cool because everybody was clapping.

I saw colours everywhere. I got changed into my costume and raced to the make-up room. I could her the audience chatting. It was time to start. The lights were warm and shone brightly. By the time we had finished I was very tired. (Ashleigh, Room 7)
I had thousands of butterflies in my hungry stomach. The noisy choir walked in the steaming hot room. We all sat down on freaezing cold seats. The massive production began. The wonderful choir jumped up and sang. It was a brilliant night. I went home and had a hot milo then went straight to sleep.
(Kendra, Room 7)

It was a cold and shivery night. Hundreds of children were at the hall. Everybody was geting nervous. I had butterflies in my stomach - I could feel it. I walked my way to the Room 7 bag where all the costumes were. I reached into the bag. When I got it I ran into the girls toilet to get changed. There were lots of girls crowded in the toilets. It felt like we were lots of ants. I finally found a spot to get changed. I got my clothes and started to get dressed. When I finished I struggled to get out of the room. I walked back to the hall and put my bag of clothes back into Room 7's bag for the costumes. I had to walk to the kitchen to get my face painted. I was in the choir so I got my eyes painted on the outside and my lips painted on the outside too.
(Jade, Room 7)
It was a noisy and loud night for Mapua School. There was a massive crowd in the hall. I was so scared because the production was about to start. I thought I sang brilliantly. (Sean, Room 7)

I was extremely nervous but excited at the same time. I quickly put my costume on. It was sparkling madly. I ran into the hot, stuffy, crowded make-up room. I got dark eyes and bright red cheeks. It was 7 o'clock. Time to perform. I walked on stage and said my first lines. It was amazing how many people were in front of me.
(Libby, Room 7)
On Wednesday 6th July 2005, there seemed to be a million people shouting and the little kids screaming with excitement. I was nervous but really excited because me and more than a hundered other kids were going on stage in front of 150 people to do our production. In the end the production was successful and everybody clapped.
