Yesterday we went to Rainbow Ski Field.  It was totally fantastic.  I got pretty frustrating at one time but most of the time it was exciting.  My biggest crash was when I went head-over-heels in a pile.  It was the most worst icy crash that I’ve had in my life.  That was a cool day for me because I’d never been skiing before. (Scott)

It was a beautiful day, the sun was out, there was a lovely view as I went up the T-bar with my mum.  My mum, Alex and I went to the west bowl.  Alex showed us this magnificent view of the Nelson lakes.  The water was beautiful and green.  We skied down the west bowl.  I thought it would be hard but it was quite easy.  After, I  was tired.  We had to go through a lake.  It was  a fun and exciting day all up. (Zara)

Yesterday Room 7 and Room 6 went to Rainbow Ski Fields.  I went in Lucas’s car.  I got sick on the way there so we stopped for  a minute and had something to eat and we set off again.  We saw 10 waterfalls on the way.  When we got there I was so cold.  I was on skis.  My favourite bit was the t-bar.  I had a fantastic day.  On the way back we saw everything we saw on the way there.  Me and Lucas were so tired we fell asleep. (Nathan)

When I first got out of the car, the snow looked like a big white blanket.  I grabbed my skis, eager to start.  As soon as I stood up I fell over.  I finally got to the sign so I could pull myself up.  When I was better I went up the intermediate slope.  The view was brilliant but coming down was very scary and at the end I collapsed in the car. (Haydn)

We had to get off the T-bar and Mum came up as well.  We started to go down, then we got to a really fast bit.  I was going down it soooo fast and I forgot to turn the corner.  SPLAT!!!  I fell on the ground and broke the glasses I was wearing. (Molly)

I jumped out of the car and ran to the ski and snowboard hire.  I jumped into my skis and raced off to my lesson.  The snow looked like a white page waiting to be scribbled on.  At my fantastic lesson I learned how to turn and how to jump.  After my lesson I had lunch.  Then I hurried off to play with Isabelle.  Thud!  Isabelle threw a snowball at me.  I shivered.  It slivered down my back.  We skied together for awhile.  Then I saw Gemma race down the easy way home trail.  I thought it looked fun so I went up the T-bar with mum.  First we fell off but then we got to number six and then fell off so we skied from there.  I whizzed down the hill.  After that I went on the intermediate slope one more time and then it was time to leave.  I hade a great day but I was glad to take my ski boots off.  (Ashleigh)

We were at the Rainbow ski field and the snow looked like a white blanket.  The feeling was like your birthday was coming up.  We went up the t-bar and came down with a whoosh!  The views were amazingly bright.  People zoomed past you and went speeding down the hill.  You would feel eager to do it too but you would hurt yourself!  (Michaela)

When we first got up there the snow was like a big white bed waiting for someone to jump in.  One of the workers there showed us the day room where we would put our bags.  It took awhile for us to get through the ski hire but we got there.  After we got our skis it was straight to our lesson.  The level 2 skiers had a man called Craig, and he showed us how to turn and get down the mountain safely.  When I got to the top of the T-bar the view was awesome.  You could see the whole ski field.  The first time I went down the shirt front I crashed and my ski came off and I was trying to put my ski on half way down the hill. The Mapua School
Ski Trip!!!

I went to the hire shop to get the gear. I already had my own boots so all i needed were skis. I got carvers.

I went up the rope on the Intermediate Slope. I got to the top and made my descent. I went down slowly compared to how fast I went later that day. I wasn’t stopping very well though.

I had my lesson at 10:30am. We started the lesson on the beginners slope. We did pizza turns. Then we moved on to the Intermediate Slope and did pizza turns there. The guy taught me how to spray snow. I got i got it in about 15 minutes and its a level four thing and I was only level two.

I felt confident enough two go up the T-bar, and that was exactly what i did. It was so exciting. I reached the second to last hill and Craig and I got off. I waited for Craig to clip himself to his snow board. It was really hot so I decided to take my jacket off. Craig and I were ready,we skiied down the hill to the easy way home. I was going really fast and so was Craig. It was fun!

I went up the T-bar lots after that but I couldn’t get off properly. I kept on falling over as soon as I got off the T-bar. I had a few big crashes. It was quite painful. It came to the end of the day and we all left the ski field to go home.
