Who: Senior Syndicate children

The following is a swimming journal entry, written by Luke (Rm 5):

I got to the pool and my race was about to start. My race came. It was freestyle. That is my favourite. I was racing Craig, D.B., and Tim. The whistle went. I dived in and came 3rd out of 4 people. I was stoked! It was time for the relay. In red house we had Mr Jury. Ashleigh, Cane, Devon and Chaz were in the race. The whistle went. Red house was coming first. Last person, Mr Jury, went so fast we won it. I was so happy for red house. When it was the chair race, My Jury looked ridiculous in his outfit. He looked like an old rugby player. It was hilarious. Mr T looked like an elf when he was in the chair race. It was so funny everybody could not help but laugh! That was the funniest moment in my life. Miss Milligan was funny but not as funny as Mr T. She had a rugby jersey on. Whaea Aroha looked ridiculous in her outfit but not as ridiculous as Mr T. The chair race was so fun. I had to pull Mr Jury along on the chair. That was the best race ever.

The following swimming journal entry was written by Rachael (Rm 5):

Today was the swimming sports. I was in my togs and cold. I dipped my hand in the water.

"It's freezing!" I said. I sat on the cold bench and waited.

"11 year olds," Mr Jury called.

"Go Rach," called my friends as I stood on the edge of the pools.

"Ready steady go!" called Whaea Aroha.

I dived into the water and took a breath as I broke the surface.

"Yuck!" I thought as I started moving. I got to the end and stood up.

"Well done," said Miss Milligan. I hopped out of the water. Drips steadily fell from my togs and hair. I waddled off to see Mr T and tell him my house colour, yellow. I Hi-5ved my friends as they went up for their race, then I huddled under my towel and sat on the bench. After that I did backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke, and managed to score a few beans. Then it was time for the school relay team to race a volunteer team. I put up my hand and lined up.

"Go!" I cheered as the first person started. Then it was my turn and I dived into the water I swam strong and fast and tagged the next person. I stayed in the water, it was warmer.

"Come on yellow!" said Whaea Aroha. She called all the other yellow teacher/chair racing people. Whaea Aroha dived into the water and took off her yellow rain jacket. Our chair was passed into the water and every teacher/chair person took a position. Whaea Aroha sat on the seat. Luckily she wasn't too heavy.

"Ready set go!" I heaved on the chair and we started to move.

"Come on guys!" I said. The water was getting deep but we were nearly there. Whaea Aroha jumped out and lunged for the edge.

"Yaa, wheehee!" she said. We got out and had a bit of a shiver before I felt like getting bothered to get changed. The small changing room ws cramped as I pushed my open the door. A few people moved so I could have a bit more room all my stuff was damp but I would have to cope.
