Takaka sports

 On Tuesday 9 August 2005, all the year’s 6&5 went to the Takaka sports tournament at the Takaka school. 
The score forthe hockey was Takaka: 0 Mapua: 3,
the score for soccer was Takaka: 0 Mapua: 7,
the score for rugby was Takaka: 59 Mapua: 5,
both netball games were won by Takaka,
the mini ball score was 7 all.
The Takaka sports was great fun and we all enjoyed the sports and next year Takaka  is coming to Mapua.

YEARS 5 AND 6 TAKAKA
SPORTS INTERCHANGEOn Tuesday Year 5 and 6 students travelled to Takaka for their annual sports interchange. Soccer, hockey, rugby, netball and miniball were played in fine weather. Sportsmanship, fair play, positive attitude, determination, excitement and enjoyment were evident in all games. Thanks Rose, Kaye, Ian and Trevor for your support.

The soccer game was the best for the last three years. The score was 5-0 to Mapua. James Lee scored four goals and Keegan Fox scored one. Everyone played great. We played so well in fact, the goalie only touched the ball twice. Our team work was superb. We really deserved to win. By Hamish and Julius
Hockey
Mapua won the hockey game against Takaka. The score was 3-0. Everybody did a great job in keeping the ball upfield and the tackling was great. By Zara and Tim
Rugby
In the rugby game we lost 59-5 but had fun. Keanu scored our only try but missed the conversion. We had nine players but Takaka lent us three.

Netball
We got our bibs on and hopped on the court. Our partners were huge! The whistle blew and we began. We lost both games but at least we got a goal in the second game. The first game’s score was 27-0 and the second one was 14-1. It was fun.

Miniball
At the end of all the other games we played miniball. It was a very hard game. We just about won but it was a draw - 16 all. Hamish and Jonty did some really long shots. By Tyler and Jonty
