Yr 7’s Camp Highlights 05

Day 1

On camp we went in the Ngarua caves that were dissolved by water  and there were these huge and tiny stalactites and stalagmites hanging from the ceiling and coming out of the ground .  They were amazing because there was this one stalactite that was only two square inches of it and it was 300-500 years old .  Then we got to the end of the tunnel and there was all these names and there was about 200-250 years old names on the stalagmites and in a thousand years the names will be gone or rubbed out by the stalagmite.

Day 2

Waking up to a magnificently beautiful sunrise on Tuesday morning was wonderful. We walked through Puponga farmland which housed sheep and cows. Some of the rams were head –butting each other. When we reached fossil  point we were given time to explore the caves and cliffs. Later we boarded the bus for our Farewell Spit safari. The info on how it was formed was very educational. The lighthouse even wore red socks. Our guides name was John and Buses was Lily. Jumping down a 30 foot sandune was amazing.

Day 3

On Wednesday we started our rotation . The Information centre was boring. But the horse riding made up for that. They had very well trained horses. Andy was the best. Next was the BMXing. I hated the up hill parts but that made the my day was the little beach at the end. AWESOME!!! Is all I can say

Day 4

On Thursday we went to Wharariki beach and it was really cool there was heaps of dunes. We played scrag with the teachers. Then we went to Cape Farewell and had lunch. We saw seals on the rock and it was very windy. Tom's dad's ship went past.

Day 5

On  Our last day we visited Ben Carri Farm park. There was a huge Texas longhorn. Milly adored the clides dale of course. The lambs stood on their hind legs to eat the kiwifruit growing overhead. At the end of the day I was soooo glad to get home and sleep in my nice soft bed. ZZZzzzzz….
