| This year the year 8's went on a camp to Pakawau in Golden Bay for a week. The days were from 14th to the 18th March. On the way to Pakawau camp we stopped at Ngarua caves at the top of Takaka hill. We enjoyed going through the cave with Mike and we then had lunch. Since we were ahead of time we departed for PuPu Springs! We all had a drink of the water from the springs and then departed for Pakawau Camp site. |
| We did all the Unpacking at Pakawau and then did some diary writing till we played a game off light the candle. After the game we went to bed.We woke up on day 2 of our camp and headed to the start of our rotation day. The three activities were Mountain biking where we went to Green Hill Beach which was real fun running up the sand dunes which made it a uncomfortable ride back. |
| The next activity was the Farewell Spit informatioin centre where we learnt some amzing history of the Spit , one of them was the large amount of whale strandings on the spit. The last activity was Horse Trekking where we got the most stunning view of Golden bay all the way to Seperation point and all the way up to Farewell spit. Most people thought the horse trekking was the best activity. We then had tea, played some games and went to bed. |
| Today we went all the way out to Wharariki beach which is at the top of the west coast. We had loads of fun running down the sand dunes, exploring caves, making sand castles and playing some sport. We went back to the camp site and then we had a huge bonfire where we toasted marshmallows, potatoes, corn and sausages where we ate relaxed in our sand lazyboy chairs. We also played some sport. |
Today we woke up at 5:00am in the morning to catch the bus shuttle Eliza so we could go see Farewell spit! It was Absolutely amazing. We saw all sorts of things. We went on thehe lighthouse, dived down a enormous sand dune and explored Cape Farewell. The Shuttle Eliza was on her last tour round the Spit so that was sad. We got back to Pakawau at 11:30. We then went on a walk to another lighthouse where we got a view of the whole spit.

We went for a swim at the beach and then we played a St. Patrick day challenge which made us full of laughter. We then went to sleep. The next day we said goodbye and packed up and left Pakawau and then arrived at Benncarri farm.At Bencarri farm we had lunch and saw the Anatoki eels and all sorts of animals. After that departed Bencarri farm back to Mapua School.
Everyone enjoyed our trip to Pakawau and hope to have another camp at Pakawau!
